Rosaland Katherine (Sundling) Manhalter

1942 – 2025

Rosaland Katherine Sundling Manhalter, born November 21, 1942, in Akron, Colorado, passed away on February 11, 2025 from complications from multiple sclerosis.  Rosaland was one of nine children born to Katherine and Harold Sundling. Rosaland graduated from Akron High School in 1961.

Rosaland married Wayne Manhalter on July 22, 1962 and began their family with the birth of their children Gregory Manhalter, Diana Manhalter (Trumbly), Bradley Manhalter and Allen Manhalter. After the death of her mother, Rosaland helped raise her two youngest brothers, Stephen and Kent Sundling.

Rosaland enjoyed sewing and crocheting and entered numerous items in the annual Washington County Fair.  She sewed Easter dresses for the grandchildren, crocheted afghans and baby blankets.

In 1981, the family started a new chapter in their lives when they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to be near Wayne's sister and Rosaland's sister.  Rosaland worked in her sister's monogramming shop and eventually opened up a home daycare where she cared for her grandchildren and others kiddos.

Rosaland battled Multiple Sclerosis for over 50 years and finally had to discontinue caring for children on a daily basis.  She created the Maternity Ministry at the Edmond Church of Christ. She crocheted newborn hats for area hospital nurseries as a way to keep her hands moving and having a connection to children.  When she became wheelchair bound and no longer able to live at home, she moved to the nursing home where she continued crocheting, participating in crafts and winning Bingo money.  She served as the Bingo scorekeeper for quite some time.

Rosaland was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Manhalter; parents, Harold and Katherine Sundling; sisters, Carol Kelsey and Paula Sundling (infant); brothers, Phillip Sundling and Stephen Sundling; daughter-in-law, LeeAnn Manhalter; and great-grandson, Jace Madden.

Rosaland is survived by four children, Gregory Manhalter and wife, Christy, Diana Trumbly and husband, Joe, Bradley Manhalter and wife Stephanie, and Allen Manhalter; eleven grandchildren, Lauren Manhalter, Emily Madden and husband Jerrod, Justin Manhalter, Rachel Manhalter, Cord Manhalter, Nash Manhalter, Alyson Trumbly and husband Claude Chadwick, Gage Trumbly and wife Emily, Ethan Trumbly and wife Sarah, Carson Manhalter and Jaclyn Manhalter; eight great-grandchildren, Gracie, Remie, Millie, Iris, Maverick, Kallie, Mylee and Jameson; sisters, Linda Guthrie, Beverly Baker; brothers, Roland Sunding (Grace) and Kent Sundling (Carol) and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tuscany Village Nursing Home for caring for her during the past 5 ½ years.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Edmond Church of Christ, Edmond, OK.  Private family interment will be held at Waterloo Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16 th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home.

So today an Angel that lived among us got her wings and returned to Heaven…

She had to be an Angel because no mortal I have ever meet could endure all the pain she endured for at least the last 50 years I can remember…

She had to be an Angel as I know of no person that could endure all the surgeries and illnesses that she endured yet every time you would ever see her, she had a smile to give you and a cheerful greeting…even though she hurt so bad…

She had to be an Angel because she always knew how to fix your boo boo and make it all better…

She had to be an Angel because she had an unending amount of love she shared with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and every baby she took care of and helped raise…

She had to be an Angel for the undying love she had for her husband who has waited so patiently for her to join him in Heaven…

She had to be an Angel as she loved God so much and was the best example of what it is to be a Christian which she showed us every day…

I know today that she is an Angel for today she got wings and is holding Dad so tightly forever…

Mom, I love you so much and will miss you, you will always be my Angel…
