Ruth Marie (Curry) Hyde made the journey home to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2026. Ruth was born on August 12, 1936, to Monte and Esther Ruth (Sandel) Curry in Pierre, SD. Ruth was raised in Pierre where she met and married Richard Moorehead Hyde on August 21, 1953, in Minneapolis, MN. Together Ruth and Richard were blessed to have 3 children, Rodrick Michael, Scott Richard, and Dawn Marie. Married for 68 years, Ruth and Richard traveled the world experiencing life on the QE2, riding the rails of the Orient Express, exploring pyramids in Egypt to supersonic flying on the Concorde and living stints in Scotland and California. Of all the great travels and experiences, Ruth would have considered raising her children and being a grandmother to 7, great grandmother to 18 and great-great grandmother to 2 her life’s greatest work.
Ruth’s beauty was a sight to behold. She modeled for The Patricia Stevens Modeling agency in MN and even was a Laker Girl there. Ever the premier “hostess” her dinner parties were a sight to behold, and everything was always just perfect for each guest who attended. Christmas at “Memes”, as she was affectionately called by all her grandchildren, was always magical and decorated to the nines with the most festive decor the season offered. Ruth was a member of “Silk Stockings” ladies cotillion where she held office and helped coordinate many charity and social events over many decades. She also dedicated 28 years to service to Meals on Wheels and several years to All Things Baby, Inc. serving babies and children throughout Oklahoma. She was also a 50+ year member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church in OKC. Quite the seamstress she made beautiful drapes for her homes, decorative pillows, Easter dresses for her granddaughters and Halloween costumes.
Ruth loved her family and was proud of every single one of them. Her home was always a welcome place for her family to gather from far and wide. She will be missed greatly. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Richard Hyde. She is loved and remembered by her sons Rodrick Hyde and wife Margaret, Scott Hyde and wife Becky, daughter Dawn Johnson and husband Jim. Her many grandchildren, Jason, Chelsea, Courtney, Tony, Dustin, Raj and Robert and numerous great and great grandchildren.
Ruth leaves us all with a legacy of love for family and spending time together. We were all blessed by the life she lived.
Services to honor Ruths life will be at Matthews Funeral Home on September 21st, 2026, at 2pm with a reception to follow. Interment will be at St. Lukes Columbarium after services.
