Sammye Eugene Humphrey

Sam Humphrey, 73, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014, in Oklahoma City. Son of George Jackson Humphrey and Callie Marie Hale, Sam was born January 1, 1941, in Ryan OK.
He graduated from Grant High School in Oklahoma City, OK, in 1959. Sam joined the U.S. Army in 1960, reaching the rank of SP5 E-5 and was stationed in Korea with the 2 nd Battalion, 36 th Field Artillery unit as an Army Surveyor. He also received commendations for Marksman (Rifle, Carbine), Bayonet Badge (Expert) and Drivers Badge. Sam received an honorable discharge in 1963.
Sam received his CLU with the American College in September of 1980 and continued a life-long career in insurance.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include son, John Humphrey, his wife, Jennifer, grandsons, Jaxon and Jett, of Edmond, OK; son, Jason Humphrey and his wife Michelle, of Nashville, TN; brother, George Humphrey of Oklahoma City, OK.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at the First Christian Church, Chapel, in Edmond, OK.
