Shahab Ghassemi

1956 – 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shahab Ghassemi, of Edmond Oklahoma. He passed away at the age of 68 on February 18th, surrounded by loved ones.

Born August 25th, 1956, to Khan Baba Ghassemi and Malouss Goudarzi in MIS Iran, Shahab was raised in a home full of love that truly understood the meaning of family. Shahab would eventually go on to bring those ideals to form his own family. In 1980, Shahab met his wife Mandy in Eastborne, England and in 1982, Shahab and Mandy welcomed their daughter Roxana.

In 1984, with very little to their name, Shahab and his family set off to make a life in the States and would eventually land in Edmond, OK. Through strenuous, back breaking work and determination, Shahab was able to establish Metroplex Sprinklers, a successful irrigation and landscaping business and became an example of the "American Dream". He was loved by many of his customers and made many long-lasting relationships and lifelong friends over the last 40 years. He was a gentle soul and would help anyone in need and was always the person called for help. He would often do work for free to help elderly customers and friends and would always go the extra mile.

Shahab was adored by those who knew him. He was very active and loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing in Colorado and Tennessee, with his brothers and friends. After having four grandchildren, his life completely changed. He devoted himself to them and wanted to spend every moment with them. He found the most joy at the lake house in Eufaula, OK while spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them about life, singing, playing hide-and-go-seek, dancing, fishing, looking for 'Bigfoot' and always fixing something broken. His grandchildren will refer to him as "the best of the best" talking about his ability to grill. He loved to cook, and it was often the area of gathering to try to get the first piece of steak. Shahab fought for his family until the very end.

Shahab was preceded in death by his father, Khan Baba Ghassemi, and sister Maryam Babadi (Kaful). Shahab is survived by his mother Malouss (Shokat) Goudarzi, wife Amanda Ghassemi, daughter Roxana Ghassemi-Self and her husband Daniel, four grandchildren – Daxton, Camden, Brylind and Sophia Self. Brothers – Shahrokh Ghassemi and his wife Leslie, Farokh Ghassemi, and his wife Mehrnoush, Sisters Nasrin Bahraman and her husband Jamshid, Simin Ghassemi and her husband Mehrdad, Vida Ghassemi and her husband Siamak of Iran. Shahab had numerous nieces and nephews near and far whom he loved with all his heart.

Services will be held at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond on Thursday February 27th at 2:00 pm.
