Sidney Clay Woolfolk , 63, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025 , surrounded by his wife and loved ones. Born December 11, 1961, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS, he was the son of Orvid Delane "Skip" and LaVeda Woolfolk.
He grew up on the family ranch near Protection, Kansas , where his adventurous spirit took root early. He loved hopping on his minibike with his dog by his side, heading to the creek to explore and pretend he was Daniel Boone.
A graduate of Protection High School , he was offered a football scholarship to Memphis State University and ended his football career at Kansas State University . Throughout his life, he never lost his passion for sports, his competitive drive, or his quick wit. He was always willing to share a new hobby, hear out a wild "what if" conversation, or embark on a last minute vacation scuba diving, his love.
Sid had a deep love for the outdoors and treasured spending time with his kids, nephews, and nieces—whether it was fishing, camping out, boating or riding ATVs to check on the cattle. He had a special bond with his childhood friends, relationships that remained strong and meaningful through the years.
A true entrepreneur, Sid launched a commodity brokerage business from his garage and grew it into a successful operation with multiple locations across the country-built through vision, grit, and an unstoppable work ethic. After years in the business world, he chose to return home to what he loved most—the ranch and the cattle. Being back on the land brought him peace and purpose. When he later retired from ranching, he found that same sense of home in the Colorado mountains, which remained forever close to his heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carla Woolfolk of Piedmont Ok; his father Skip Woolfolk; three children: Casey, Megan, Lora; sisters LaNell Wagnon, Michelle Martin; six grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his most favorite person—his mother, LaVeda Woolfolk; they loved to laugh together and truly cherished each other's company, a bond that shaped the man Sid became.
Sid will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He never met a stranger, and his stories—told with that unmistakable wit—left people laughing, thinking, or both. His kindness was quiet but constant, his loyalty unwavering, and his wisdom shared with honesty and heart. Whether you knew him for a moment or a lifetime, Sid had a way of making you feel seen, valued, and at home. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the kind of strength that quietly changes lives.
A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends in a private ceremony at a later date.
