Stephen James "Steve" Durall
1945-2019
Stephen (Steve) James Durall, 74, went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of April 20, 2019 while surrounded by his his entire family. Steve was born on March 24, 1945 in Joplin, Missouri to Juel and Joy Durall. After moving to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Steve attended college at Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa where he majored in accounting. Steve's love of numbers served him well throughout his career at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville and as a financial office for the state government in Oklahoma City.
Steve met the love of his life, Nancy Ann Wells in 1969 in Bartlesville while she was working at First National Bank and he was working at Phillips Petroleum. They married in 1970 and later had two children, a son James and later a daughter, Suzanne. They later moved to Guthrie where Steve worked for the state government in Oklahoma City. Steve remained in Guthrie where he raised his family with Nancy and where they were members of Waterloo Road Baptist Church.
Steve's passions in life were his family, his church, baseball, and fishing. Being that he was born in Missouri, Steve was a diehard Kansas City Royals fan and followed them year in year out, regardless of how well they were doing. Steve was able to see them win two World Series, however.
Steve's true loves in his life were his family and church. Nancy and him were married and devoted to each other for 49 years this May 2nd.. Steve adored his two children and four grandchildren, who could often be found at his house. Steve also loved his church family from Waterloo Road. Steve had many friends of all ages there, which was not uncommon because Steve always found it easy to make friends. Steve spent the last years of his life surrounded by his family, his friends, and his grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Nancy, his children James Durall and his wife Christie, his daughter Suzanne Huffman and her children Lillie, Abby, Caiden, and Aleeah. He is preceded in death by his parents Juel and Joy Durall and his brother David Durall.
Funeral services will be held at Waterloo Road Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on April 24, 2019.
