Sue Carol Staton

Sue Carol Staton, born December 12, 1936 in Ada, OK, and died peacefully in Edmond, OK on May 17, 2026 surrounded by family, at the age of 89. Sue is survived by her daughter, Sharra Staton Beard and husband Gary of Edmond, OK; her son, Rev. Michael Staton and wife Deborah of Soldonta, AK; grandchildren, John Beard, Stephen Staton and wife Kelsi, Philip Beard and wife Emily, Austin Staton and wife Nikki, Amanda Beard Ariete and husband John; great grandchildren, Faith Beard, Malaya Ariete, Bryan Staton, William Bunting, Aims Staton, Barrett Staton, Ellis Ariete, Obediah Staton, Theodore Staton, Zoh Staton, and Lavender Ariete; sister Betty Parnell; extended family and many friends. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Staton, her parents, Mini Jo Cates and Harry Sullivan; her son, Bryan Eugene Staton; and a grandson, Bryan DeTienne Staton.

Sue graduated from Orosi High School in Orosi, CA. Sue married her best friend, Robert Wayne Staton on February 5, 1955. They lived in southern California until 1968 when they moved to Oklahoma City. She was a faithful member of the Muskogee Church of the Nazarene. Her hobbies included sewing, drawing, cooking, crossword puzzles, Bible studies, RV camping, watching OKC Thunder, the Wheel of Fortune, and restoring old homes. Her proudest accomplishments were her husband, only granddaughter, and family. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
