Terry Lee Clingman
1950 – 2025
Terry Lee Clingman, 75, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on May 29, 2025. Terry was born to Horace Keith Clingman and Bernice Clingman on January 11, 1950, in his home in Temple, Oklahoma.
Terry was a loving father and wonderful husband of 55 years, a good provider for his family, a man of strong values, and a dear friend to many.
Although Terry was born in Temple, he grew up in many places around the country including Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma. When Terry was growing up his father worked for Big Chief Oil Company so his family was always "following the rig", which meant moving frequently, with Terry never finishing a grade at one school. When his parents finally settled in Temple, many of his family members also came back to Temple where their family set down roots. Although he was the new kid in town his senior year of high school, he was known by many for working at his dad's filling station. In June of 1967, the summer before his senior year of high school, he met his future wife and the love of his life, Vikki Carroll. The two were married on June 28, 1969, beginning a wonderful 55 years of marriage. The couple moved to Edmond shortly after getting married in July 1969 where they set down their own roots. In December 1981 their son Leonard Keith Clingman entered their lives and their family was complete.
Terry completed high school in Temple and three years of college at Cameron College in Lawton and Central State University in Edmond. He followed in his father's footsteps going to work in the oil industry, working for many companies in the business over the years, including Harper Oil Company, Chaparral, Continental and Atlas.
Terry lived an active life with his family and many friends. He loved to hunt, go fishing with his brothers-in-law, travel with "the girls", garden, golf, and watch his son, Keith, play baseball, often rearranging his work schedule so he could be at all of his games. Terry was a loyal, doting husband and was known for the many wonderful gifts and special ways he showed his wife Vikki that he loved her throughout their life together. One of those gifts was Terry and Vikki's beloved dog, Molly, who still brings so much joy to Vikki and everyone who meets her. Terry had some exceptionally cool cars across the years that he loved, including a 1957 Blue Chevy and a 300 Zx. He was an ornery, loving, funny, and loyal man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Terry is survived by his wife Vikki Clingman, his son Keith Clingman and wife Hillary Wright, his niece Sandy Carroll Roberts and husband Greg Roberts and their children Blake, Travis, and Jackie Roberts. His niece Kathy Carroll Bell and husband Dominic Bell, and their children Dalton Freshour, Cameron Bell, Makayla Erholm. His brothers-in-law Gerald Baerenwald and Jim Carroll and sister-in-law Casie Carroll Knight and husband Wade Knight, their children Jacob Wade Knight, Anna Knight, Cadie Lynn Knight Helm, Stephen Helm and their children Sawyer Helm, Ensley Helm, Lily Grandmont, and Jocelyn Grandmont. Also his nephew Tim Baerenwald and wife Vicki Baerenwald. Terry is preceded in death by his parents H.K. Clingman and Bernice Clingman, grandparents Edward and Dora Johnson Clingman and Marcus and Birdie Johnson Tucker. His sister Margaret Clingman Baerenwald and their son Matthew Baerenwald.
