Terry Lee Foley, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home this week. Born on November 17, 1954, in Aberdeen, Maryland, Terry lived a life that was larger than life itself — full of laughter, music, hard work, generosity, and love for the people around him.
He is survived by his children, Katelinn Joan (Foley) Waller, Courtney Lee (Foley) Patin, and John Wesley Foley; his sisters, Jerrie Edzards and Joyce Holleque; his former wife and friend, Lisa Foley; his lifelong best friend, Randy Hoehne; along with many beloved grandchildren, extended family members, friends, and countless people whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.
Terry dedicated 46 years of his life to Delco Electric Company. As the company’s very first employee, he helped build it from the ground up into a very successful business through hard work, loyalty, and determination. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built throughout his career.
Outside of work, Terry was known for his enormous personality and unforgettable spirit. He was goofy, charming, mischievous, and endlessly funny — the kind of person who loved teasing people just to make them laugh. He never met a stranger. Whether it was a cashier at the grocery store, an employee at a pharmacy, or someone passing through a gas station, Terry made friends everywhere he went and was remembered wherever he returned.
Music was one of the great loves of his life. A talented musician with a deep love for rock and roll, Terry especially loved The Beatles and could often be found singing songs, sharing stories, and laughter with the people around him. He also found joy in simple things: fishing, feeding birds and squirrels, and caring for the many animals he loved throughout his life, including dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and even a raccoon, monkey and skunk in his younger years.
More than anything, Terry loved his family. He was the first person people called when they needed help, advice, or simply someone to show up. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need without hesitation. His kindness, humor, generosity, and unmistakable presence made people feel safe, welcomed, and loved.
Terry leaves behind a space that cannot be filled, but also a lifetime of stories, laughter, music, and memories that will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to know him.
