1943-2024
Thad E. Sterling passed away at his home on Monday, November 18, 2024. He was born June 6, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana to Earl and Mary Alice Sterling. He played on the hockey team at Ohio Northern, graduating in 1966 with a teaching degree. While at school he made lifelong friends, referring to themselves as "The Bootheads"; he returned to Ohio many times over the years to play golf with them. His sense of humor and ability to make others laugh endeared him to all. After college, he worked as a teacher, and then in sales. He moved to Edmond in the early 1980's and for the last 25 years of his working life, owned an eyeglass shop. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and refurbishing, as well as woodworking. After his retirement, he kept freshwater fish. He married Terry on October 18, 1992 and they were married for 32 years. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Bob. Survivors include his wife, Terry, of the home; stepchildren Charles Clay Hamilton of Oklahoma City and Alie Gann Hamilton of Edmond; grandson Thomas Sterling of Edmond and granddaughter Tasiana Hamilton of Portland, Oregon.
