Thelma "Billie" Hughon Rose

Thelma “Billie” Rose was called home to Heaven on her 105th birthday! This happened on January 18, 2026. This was her goal – and she made it! She was touched by many lives and many people loved her dearly.

Billie was born in the home at Edmond, OK on January 18, 1921. Her mother was Nettie Adelia (Mason) McHone and her dad was Walter Owen McHone. She married Sterling Franklin Rose in December 1941. They met at a Pentecostal Holiness Camp Meeting and were married for 50 years.

Billie always had a very productive life. She took care of about an acre garden every year, she made the girls’ dresses, crocheted, embroidered pictures, pillows and tablecloths. Writing short stories was the one enjoyment of her life. She once wrote a short story on the travels of her dog coming from California. She also spent a lot of time volunteering in several areas of her church over many years.

The love of animals was in her heart. She has had dogs, cats, squirrels and calves.

Billie is survived by her three daughters: Sue Peavey of Moore, OK, Sharon (& Larry) Moody of Edmond, OK, and Charlotte Waddle of Edmond, OK. Grandchildren: Buck (& Rachel) Peavey of Tennessee, Frank (& Sabrina) Peavey of Orange, CA, Kevin (& Patti) Peavey of Moore, OK, Sharla Moody of Nixa, MO, Brian (& Angela) Moody of Springfield, MO, Tammy (& Russell) Swiggart of Edmond, OK. Great grandchildren: Kayla (& Micah) Potts of Moore, OK, Zach Peavey of Moore, OK, Cody (& Alyson) Peavey of Fayetteville, NC, Dalton (& Kyleen) Peavey of Orange, CA. Judah & Olive Moody of Springfield, MO, Rahndi & Avery & Olivia Swiggart of Edmond, OK, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Spring Creek Assembly of God in Edmond, Oklahoma. Interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.
