Tommy Leon Davis, Jr.

d. July 18, 2020

Tommy Leon Davis, Jr., a beloved father, husband, grandfather and frien d, died on Saturday, July 18, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 56.

A diehard Oklahoma State Cowboys fan, Tommy was always proud to show his team spirit and kept his "pistols firing" throughout his last few months. He was a beloved staff member at Central Middle School in Edmond and had many strong relationships with the students and faculty members included in the Tigers family. He loved going to work each day and counted it a great blessing to be part of such a strong community.

The girls of the North Central Texas College softball team were also near and dear to his heart. Tommy and his wife Dana were first on the scene of a bus crash in the Arbuckle Mountains on September 26, 2014, that killed four of the young women on the team. Comforting the team until emergency crews arrived, Tommy held 20-year-old Brooke Deckard in his arms until she was taken to a nearby hospital in Davis, Oklahoma, where she later died of her injuries. He remained close with the team and their families and was overjoyed when they visited him in the hospital just a few months ago.

But perhaps Tommy's biggest fan was his grandson, Jaxon. Jax and his Pops were inseparable – they loved to go fishing together, play with trains or even just take a nap in a cozy chair.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Dana; his daughter Lindsey and her husband Chris; his daughter Libby and her son Jaxon; his mother Carol and her husband Harvey; his sister Kathy and her husband Brian; his sister Mary; his brother Scott and his wife Destry; his brother Joe and his wife Amy; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, and a public celebration of life will follow at Henderson Hills Baptist Church at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, it was Tommy's wish for donations to be made in honor of Brooke Deckard:
