Trent Russell Hardman

November 30, 1973 — November 30, 2023

Trent Russell Hardman of Arcadia, Oklahoma found his peace on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Trent, the son of Russell and Debra (Carnine) Hardman, came into this world on April 9, 1974, in Guymon, Oklahoma. His mother, Debbie, passed her love of animals on to Trent, giving him the gift of loving all animals. As a young, inquisitive child, Trent loved to feed the ducks at Sunset Lake in Guymon and loved each pet the family and he owned.

Due to relocations for his father's work, Trent attended many different schools, including those in Hugoton, Ulysses, and Liberal (all in Southwest Kansas). Trent covered his shyness as a child by doing well in school. He was a gifted athlete, excelling in basketball, baseball, and track. Trent was a clutch pitcher on the 13-year-old Liberal, Kansas All Star team which took state. While his childhood friends included Justin Gee, Mike Moody, Paul Maple, Craig Stewart, and Bryan Phillips, his very best friend was his sister Wendy, of whom he was fiercely protective and loved dearly. Trent graduated high school in 1992 at Louisburg, Kansas.

Trent met his wife, Carly in 2004, and they were married on May 30, 2009, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two daughters, Marley Blake in 2011 and McKinley Marie in 2013. The couple settled in Denver, Colorado, eventually relocating to Edmond, Oklahoma. Trent was a lover of all sports and an avid golfer, sharing this love with his daughter, Marley. Trent enjoyed escape rooms and video games with his daughter, Mac.

Trent was passionate about so many things, encouraging his family to try new experiences, to read anything and everything, to engage in interesting and intelligent conversations and trying new or different cuisines. Trent adored his sister's family as well, spending many hours with his beloved nieces Kaitlin and Emily. Trent will forever be a faithful Jayhawk (although his father Russell believed he had Trent semi-converted to being an Alabama Crimson Tide fan).

Trent received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at the University of Kansas and was a MacGuire Scholar. He completed his post-graduate work at the College for Financial Planning and earned the Certified Financial Planner TM (CFP®) designation. He earned the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) credential through the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association® and was a member of the 2012 Class of Impact Denver. Trent also held the 21/64 Certified Advisor designation. Trent worked as a consultant in personal finance-related technology and qualified retirement plan design and implementation.

Trent joined his brother-in-law, Brandon Johnson, and his sister, Wendy, to build Johnson Financial Group into a multi-family office in January of 2011. Trent was an incredible partner, and the firm owes much of its success to Trent's incredible intellect, work ethic, and masterful interpersonal skills. Trent served in so many roles at JFG, it is hard to overstate his importance to the company. He built out the operations function of the firm, served as the Senior Client Advisor, before eventually becoming Director of Financial Planning.

Trent served on the board of the Dean McGee Eye Institute Foundation in Oklahoma City as well as on the Board for Boys and Girls Clubs of Denver. Trent used his time, talent, and treasure to support many causes related to children, education, reading, animal welfare, and of course, financial literacy. Trent had a heart of gold and was dedicated to helping others.

Trent was beloved by all his teammates, his clients, and all those in the community that were lucky enough to know him. He could light up any room he walked into with a quick-witted joke, a wry smile, and an abundance of understated affection. Trent leaves behind a legacy at JFG that will live on far beyond his lifetime. His JFG family will miss him dearly, and we will remember him forever.

Trent is survived by his wife Carly and daughters Marley and McKinley, of the home; his  parents, Russell and Debbie Hardman; his sister, Wendy and her husband Brandon Johnson and their daughters Kaitlin and Emily; his maternal grandmother, Donna Carnine; father- and  mother-in-law Marlin and Lou Ella Regier; sister-in-law Shannon and her husband Joe Ferguson  and their daughters Reese and Sydney, as well as many extended family members.

A memorial service for Trent will be held Friday, July 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, located at 601 S. Kelly Avenue in Edmond, Oklahoma.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), PO Box 5304, Edmond, OK  73083 in Trent's name .

Trent is sorely missed, but he wanted to leave us all with some important final words: "Stay weird, read books, be kind, and adventure more."
