Twyman David Lyne

1938 – 2024

Twyman David Lyne, born on August 20, 1938, to Leonard and Lena Lyne, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sharon Beth Lyne, and his children, Deborah Suzanne Lyne and Christopher David Lyne. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a large circle of lifelong friends.

Twyman graduated from Central State College, now the University of Central Oklahoma, where he double majored in Mathematics and Physics. He utilized his education to serve his country, first contributing to the development of the Minuteman missile system, and then dedicating 46 years to the US Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base. At Tinker, he was responsible for establishing the most advanced aeronautical state-of-the-art testing lab in the world, even helping create a specialized machine to diagnose a problem with AWACS planes which was used all over the world.

In his personal life, Twyman was a dedicated homebody with a passion for gardening. He cultivated both flowers and vegetables, often sharing his blooms with neighbors and strangers alike around Edmond.  One of the only other places he loved to be was at the OKC Gun Club where he spent time with his closest friends.  Twyman was known for his generosity, kindness, and genuine love of people. He was always ready to lend a listening ear, share a meal, and enjoy laughter with others. His favorite saying was "I am just happy to be here".

Twyman is preceded in death by his sister and brothers. He will be dearly missed by his family, both by blood and by choice, as well as his extensive group of friends, with whom he shared camaraderie and fellowship.

A celebration of Twyman's life will be held at Mathews Funeral Home on November 8th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Lyne home, where family and friends are invited to share dessert and memories.
