Verlyn Phipps Reneau passed from this life on Monday, February 16, 2026. She was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on January 14, 1936 to Joe and Ethel Pearl (Bates) Phipps. She grew up in the Sedan Community where she graduated from Sedan High School in 1954. She married Donald Lloyd Reneau on September 4, 1955. She was a dedicated wife and mother. After raising her four children she began working at Citizens Bank of Edmond in the customer service department and worked her way up to Vice President of Customer Service until her retirement in 1998.

She is survived by her four children: Regina Deeds, Edmond; Denise Crawford and husband, Darrell, Edmond; Tammy Maschino and husband, David, Guthrie; and Kent Reneau, Edmond; her nine grandchildren: Ryan Deeds and wife Megan, Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Elizabeth Choc and husband, John, Tijeras, New Mexico; Rebecca Rains and husband, Geoff, Edmond; Alex Crawford and wife, Kimber, Piedmont; Aaron Crawford, Edmond; John Maschino and wife, Leanna, Guthrie; Katie Raymond and husband, Michael, Edmond; Kelby Reneau and wife, Sydney, Edmond; and Kegan Reneau, OKC. She is also survived by her fifteen great grandchildren: Matthew Deeds, Jaythan Deeds, Nolan Deeds, Reagan Deeds, Jacob Choc, Ethan Choc, Quinnlyn Rains, Graham Rains, Kamden Crawford, Lucy Crawford, Adelyn Maschino, Ryann Raymond, Rylee Raymond, Wren Reneau, and Hollis Jo Reneau. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Cheri Phipps and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Adam Crawford; parents; siblings, Wayne, Wanda (Sis), Bobbie, Ethel, Shirley, and Joey; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She loved OU athletics of any kind, but most of all loved watching her grandchildren’s many athletic and school activities. She loved having all of her family over for holiday gatherings, but mostly loved having a large Christmas gathering and shopping for all of her children and grandchildren. She was a long time member of the Edmond Church of Christ and served as a Bible class teacher, coordinated funeral dinners and attended Ladie’s Bible Class as well as being involved in many numerous activities at the church.

During the last several years of her life, she was compassionately and lovingly cared for by Shineko Barnett and A Path of Care Hospice staff, Brandi, Diana, Jason and chaplain, Eric. The family is grateful for the care Mom/Grandma/Gigi received.

Her funeral will be Friday, February 20, at 10:00 AM in the chapel at the Edmond Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Edmond Church of Christ are requested. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.
