Vernon W. DeMoss

1935 – 2023

Vernon William DeMoss, affectionately known by his family as "Pop" was born on February 27 th , 1935, to Leonard Ray DeMoss and Florene DeMoss in Jay, Oklahoma and was the second of six children.

His family moved all over even into different states.  Vernon went to numerous different schools until the age of 14.  At that age, he set out on his own journey determined to make it.

Within a short time, Vernon met Betty and they were married June 18th, 1954.  At the age of 18, Pop joined the Air Force and served his country for two years.  After serving his country he came home, and they started a family.  Nan and Pop had three children, Kathy, Vernon (Rex), and  Brent.

If there was a job to do, Pop could and would do it.  It didn't matter what it was, Pop would do whatever he needed to do to support his family. While his different ventures are too many to list, most of which included many construction jobs, he also owned and operated a service station, and was an over-the-road trucker throughout his life.  He then joined The Village Fire Department and served that community for approximately seven years.  Pop didn't get enough danger there, so he decided to join the Oklahoma City Police Department for 21 years.  He worked many different assignments within the department before retiring from the police department as a CSI Lieutenant.

The most important job Pop did was teach his kids about God, Jesus, and The Word of God.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; daughter Kathy Robinson with husband Mike of Edmond, OK;  sons Vernon (Rex) with wife Patricia of Mulhall, OK, and Brent with wife Kelly of Gig Harbor, WA;  Grandkids: Kaleb, Kylee, Karsyn, Keegan, Kooper, Cody, Toby, Cord, Alyssa and Chelsea;  Great-grandkids: Riley, Easton, Cash, Jaiden, Ariana, Colton, CodieAnn, Kaennin, Kate, Wyatt, Olivia and one on the way; and numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made in Vernon's name to the donor's choice of fund towards cancer research.
