Vickie Lynn Hicks

September 1, 1951 — May 29, 2026

Oklahoma City

Vickie Lynn Hicks went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2026. Born September 1, 1951, to Bill and Mollie Wallace in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she was the eldest of their three children. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1969 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Memphis State University.

Vickie began her career as an elementary school teacher. She went on to build a distinguished career in interior design, leaving her mark on hospitals, healthcare facilities, restaurants, and private residences throughout Oklahoma. Among her proudest professional achievements was serving on the team that renovated the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion during the administration of Governor Frank Keating. Keating later appointed her Chair of the Oklahoma Capitol Preservation Commission, where she presided over the Art Standards Committee and regularly oversaw decisions concerning the display of bronze sculptures, murals, and historical maps within the Oklahoma Capitol.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves as her legacy her two loving children, Andy Hicks (Candice) and Aimee Nail (Ronnie), and seven grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Carson, Hudson, Hannah, Bella, and Jackson Hicks, and Hunter and Andrew Nail.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
