Walker Jack Bartol
1995 – 2023
Walker Jack Bartol, 28, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away September 3, 2023. He was born in Mesa, Arizona on August 16, 1995, as a fifth generation Arizonan, to Jacquetta Kay LeForce and Walter Lynn Bartol. Walker attended school in Phoenix, Arizona at St. Joan of Arc Preschool, Most Holy Trinity Catholic School, Shadow Mountain High School and graduated from International Commerce High School on June 1, 2015. He completed courses at Paradise Community College in Phoenix, Arizona, and Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He received an Associate of Science Degree in Business from Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma on May 30, 2023. While attending Rose State he tutored other students.
Walker was very active in the Boy Scouts of America from elementary school to high school. He received the Order of the Arrow and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at Troop 296. He also served as an assistant troop leader. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church participating in chimes, choir and was an altar server. Walker was also a black belt in taekwondo.
Walker was passionate about the outdoors; he loved snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking, and camping. As a child he needed to climb anything that would elevate him whether it was a windmill at an outdoor wedding, or trees on the farm. As a boy scout, Walker hiked Havasupai, numerous locations throughout Arizona, as well as Shadow Mountain in his backyard. While at Fort Lewis College, he hiked and snowboarded mountains around Durango, Colorado. He loved to capture life-in-action in videos with his GoPro. He loved music, photography, and writing.
Walker and his mother moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in December 2015. Continuing his love of the outdoors, he enjoyed working with his grandfather, uncle, and cousin on his grandfather's cattle ranch. He spent many days taking guidance about raising cattle from his grandfather.
Walker spent time with his aunt and uncle's quarter horses in Prescott. He also spent weekends in Wickenburg and Prescott with grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
He was an amazing, kind, humorous, personable young man who was willing to go the extra mile to help others. Walker helped care for his elderly grandmother as she battled with Alzheimer's which demonstrated his deep love for her. Family was important to him and summer and Christmas vacations with his aunt, uncle and two cousins were always a highlight.
Walker is survived by his mother, Jacquetta Kay LeForce, father Walter Lynn Bartol and his wife Kathy; grandfather Jack LeForce; aunts and uncles, John and Becky LeForce, Tom and Margaret Bartol, Lisa, and Bruce Baskett; cousins Blake and Hannah LeForce, Connor LeForce, Rebecca Baskett, Cassandra Baskett; godparents Kate and Jim North and godbrother Jackson North. He is preceded in death by grandparents Janice LeForce, Walter, and Betty Bartol.
Public visitation will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, with family present to greet friends and guests. A wake service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Matthews Funeral Home.
Services will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
