Dale Sasser

October 6, 1939 — January 13, 2026

Edmond

Walter “Dale” Sasser was born on October 6, 1939, in Edmond, Oklahoma to Clarence and Edna (LeGrande) Sasser, and passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at his home of 57 years. He was raised in Arcadia, Oklahoma.

Dale graduated from Arcadia High School in 1957, and was immediately offered a job doing small welding projects. His skills quickly grew, and he became an outstanding welder, traveling across the United States welding on large pipeline sites. Dale took great pride in his work, and because of his welding expertise, he was later offered and accepted a position as a pipeline inspector.

As owner and operator of Sasser Construction, Dale mastered the skill of moving and shaping dirt with road graders and bulldozers. He proudly served in the Army and the National Guard, but his true passion was sprint car racing on dirt tracks. He had extensive knowledge of engines and took pride in knowing the engines he raced were built by his own hands. Whether driving car #44 or #19, Dale enjoyed great success, winning many races. As he often said, “Friday and Saturday nights were spent at the racetrack, and the week spent putting it all back together.”

After retiring, Dale was never idle. He spent countless hours in his shop repairing and building all kinds of things. He enjoyed daily breakfasts and Friday catfish lunches with his buddies. Dale loved to visit and tell stories, especially about his relationship with the bluebirds that returned each year to nest in his yard. He enthusiastically planned for the dates the babies would hatch and fledge the nest.

Dale is survived by his daughter Michelle Brown (Shelly) of Agra, Oklahoma, granddaughter Maci Brown-Straw and husband RJ of Lenapah, Ok, grandson Karson Brown of Agra, Ok and grandson Nathan Marchese and great granddaughter Liv Marchese of Shawnee, KS. Also survived by nephews Eric Steele, Aaron Crown, Mike Coffia and Scott Coffia; nieces Candy Crown and Christina Wiggins and several great nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wife, Kay. Also, by his sisters Clarene and husband Pat Coffia, Kaye Steele and her husband Bob.

Dale had many friends and he often said to them, “Go make ‘um a hand”, meaning go work hard! Dale was loved and admired by many and will be deeply missed.
