Wanda Lee Potter, affectionately known as Windy, was born July 26th, 1951, and passed away April 26th, 2026, peacefully, surrounded by her loving son & family.
She was the daughter of Nelson & Marie McClure, who instilled in her the values of hard work, dedication, & kindness that she carried throughout her life.
Windy grew up in Brooke County, West Virginia, graduated from Wellsburg High School, attended Liberty College, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
In 1972, Windy married John Potter, and together, they welcomed their son Jason Michael Potter in 1978. Though their marriage later ended, they maintained a remarkable and caring relationship built on mutual respect and a shared love for their son. Windy was also grateful for his wife, Julie, whose presence and support meant a great deal.
Windy took great pride in her son Jason who was a dedicated and loving son. She warmly welcomed her daughter-in-law Tammy (Goodpasture) Potter into her family. When Addison Jayde Potter was born, becoming a grandmother was truly one of the happiest events in her life. She loved Addie more than life itself, and the bond they shared was unbreakable. She took great pride and joy, talking and bragging about Addie to everyone she met
Windy served as an Executive Assistant at Hal French, LLC from 1978 to 2013, a role she truly loved and took great pride in. She was a dedicated advocate within Peppers’s Ranch, a foster care community, where her compassion and commitment made a meaningful impact.
She was also an active member of her investment club, the Dollar Divas, and found great joy in the friendships she built there.
Windy loved her neighborhood and neighbors. She was always eager to participate in gatherings and activities that brought them together. She shared many special times with her neighbors who meant so very much to her.
Windy will be remembered for the smile on her face and her contagious laughter. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
She is proceeded in death by her mother and father. Windy is survived by her brothers, Nelson McClure and wife Chris, and Terry McClure and wife Joan. Her son Jason, daughter-in-law Tammy, & granddaughter Addie.
Windy will be deeply missed, but lives on in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m..
