1932-2021

Wayne Black, resident of Edmond, OK since 1974, passed unexpectedly on January 19, 2021 at the age of 88. With numerous health issues for many years, Wayne stayed active and enjoyed life. He was born in Lawton, OK on August 17, 1932 to Vauda E. Black and Garnet Cone. Around the age of 4, the family moved to Ada, OK where he spent his school years. He began working at a young age delivering newspapers on his bicycle. Wayne served in the Army during the Korean War, serving in Japan. He worked 34 years for the Bell System-Western Electric, SBC and retired in January 1987. Wayne greatly enjoyed many motorcycle and RVing adventures for many years. He enjoyed serving at the Hope Center with some buddies and participating in woodworking projects with his knot head friends. He loved his church and many friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and daughter, Terri; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Wayne" and his wonderful smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Donald Black.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edmond First United Methodist Church or the Hope Center of Edmond.

Services will be held on Thursday January 28th at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
