Wilbur 'Will' Harris

1935-2015

Wilbur N. (Will) Harris was born July 12, 1935 in Bell, California, to Wilbur G. and Irma (Ellis) Harris and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Feb. 9 ^th , 2015. At the age of 6, his family moved back to Edmond, OK where he lived until the age of 14, during which period he spent his spare time on the corner shining shoes and later delivering newspapers. Will then moved to Oklahoma City with his family until the age of 17, when he joined the U.S. Navy. He served during the Korean War in naval aviation aboard the USS Oriskany and the USS Kearsarge. He earned his private pilot license in 1958 and spent a major part of his remaining years working on and modifying aircraft. Will retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in OKC in 1994. He met his future wife, Laura Beene Harris while he was in the Navy. They were married 58 plus years ago on Sept. 1, 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ione Williams and Billie Mae McLennan. Survivors include his wife and best friend, Laura, four children, Daniel Harris of the home, Sondra Danner and husband Randy, Michael Harris and wife, Robyn, and Micki Harris, four grandchildren, Merressia Summers, Nick Harris, Bethany Walls and Andrew Harris, and four great grandchildren. One sister, Jeanne Harrison of Oklahoma City. Also three very special children, Wendee Gozansky and Darin and Kellie Molone, and numerous very dear cousins, nephews, and nieces. Viewing will be Thursday after 1 pm and from 8-8 on Friday February 13, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 14, 2015 at First Christian Church, 201 East 2 ^nd , Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Breakfast on Boulevard at the church or the charity of your choice.
