William Thomas Dever
1932-2022
William Thomas Dever, age 89, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born August 20, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to William Oscar Dever and Bessie Louise Dever. He graduated high school from Putnam City High School and earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Oklahoma State University. He was in the Army, serving in Korea and Guam. He taught all of his life at schools in Oklahoma and Kansas, last teaching at University of Central Oklahoma for 32 years in the Political Science Department. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and watching movies. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a daughter, Deborah Idleman, a son, David Dever, and a brother, Jack Dever. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda, and a step-son, Jeffrey Scott, whom he considered his own son, and 3 grandchildren. A graveside service will be at IOOF Cemetery in Arcadia, on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
