William "Bill" Dudley White

Bill White sailed his final voyage to Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ as his Captain on August 10, 2014. Bill was born June 11, 1958 to James L. and Carole A. Platt in Royal Oak, Michigan. After his father's death at a very young age, Bill and his brother, James were raised by their mother Carole and her husband Paul R. White. During his young life, Bill lived with his parents in various parts of the United States and spent a large part of his childhood in Puerto Rico where he developed a life-long passion for the ocean and sailing.

His family moved to Edmond in 1975 where Bill attended Edmond Memorial High School and participated in numerous sports and activities. After graduating in 1978, Bill worked in facilities maintenance and was a Chief Maintenance Engineer for First Union Management Company from 1984 to 1989. Bill returned to college in 1989 and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1994 with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Safety. He worked at Raytheon/E-Systems in Greenville, Texas as a Safety Specialist where his passion for employee health and safety helped him to develop numerous award-winning safety training programs and was a "Tribute to Excellence" Top 100 Honoree.

Bill returned to Edmond in 1998 where he continued his work in the safety industry as a Safety Representative for Accord Human Resources. Most recently, Bill worked as a caregiver for Garland and Penny Cupp who became his "adopted parents". Bill married Tammy Wishon in 1992 and became a father to her son Royce Vorel, serving as Pack Master for his Boy Scout Troup and numerous other activities. His world was "rocked" in 1993 with the birth of his daughter, Stacy Michelle White. She was the light of his life and became his sole reason for existence.

Bill is survived by his daughter Stacy, Stacy's mother, Tammy, step-son and daughter-in-law Royce and Valerie Vorel, grandchildren Corbin, Kyla, Keira and Camille, brother and sister-in-law James and Linda Platt, nephew Dillon Platt and niece Chelsea Platt as well as his Life Church family.

Bill was a loving, caring father, brother and uncle to the family he left behind. He was an extremely warm and passionate soul about all things he did including volunteering at his church, the ocean, sail boats and 7-11 "icees". He was a brilliant and amazing light who will be missed very much by every single life he ever crossed paths with.

"We all die, the goal isn't to live forever but rather to create something that does"

Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 3 pm at the Oklahoma City campus of Life Church located at Edmond Road and Pennsylvania.
