William Anthony Maib, 19, passed away on September 2nd, 2026, as the result of a tragic accident in San Antonio, Texas.
William was born on July 3rd, 2007, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He enjoyed numerous YMCA sports as a young child, with baseball being his favorite. From an early age, William was curious, energetic, and always looking for his next adventure. He spent much of his time exploring with his brother, Ryan, and the neighborhood kids. Together, they spent countless hours playing on the “jumps,” building a fort, climbing trees, and putting on talent shows.
William had a deep love for all creatures, big and small. He could often be found trying to befriend a stray dog or cat. William was an avid video game player and enjoyed watching others play as well. He frequently said he wanted to be a YouTuber when he grew up.
Throughout his middle school years, he played baseball, ran track, conquered the wall at the ninja gym, played double bass in orchestra, and was a Boy Scout in Troop 479. His time in Scouts was a bright spot in his life. He thrived as the patrol leader, learned many life skills, and shared countless adventures with great friends.
William attended high school at Edmond North and Spencer. He found solace in writing his own music and singing, using songs to express thoughts and feelings that were sometimes difficult to put into words. He was constantly looking for concerts to attend. William also participated in the Thunderbird Youth Challenge in Pryor, Oklahoma, where he excelled and accomplished many goals. He earned his GED in Texas in 2025.
William faced many struggles throughout his life, particularly during his final few years. Despite those challenges, there were moments of growth and hope. Those who loved him will remember not only the difficulties he faced, but the many qualities that made William uniquely himself- his curiosity, adventurous spirit, creativity, humor, and capacity to find meaning through music and writing.
His family and friends will forever cherish the memories they created with him. William will be deeply missed and forever loved. Rest peacefully, William. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved you.
