William "Bill" David Wilson Sr.

William "Bill" David Wilson Sr., 85, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, in Edmond.

Born on May 26, 1941, Bill grew up on a farm in North Edmond as one of 11 children born to James and Dolly Wilson. A lifelong worker with a strong sense of dedication, Bill began his career working for the City of Edmond before ultimately joining Edmond Public Schools as a custodian, where he served faithfully until his retirement.

On January 16, 1960, Bill married the love of his life, Alice Wilson. For 64 wonderful years, they built a life centered around family which showed the great amount of love he had for his children and even yet more for his grandchildren. In the early years of their marriage, Bill and Alice shared the joy of square dancing together.

Bill served faithfully as a youth leader while his children were growing up in addition to spending many years coaching softball, baseball and football" - he loved sports! A true Oklahoman at heart, Bill was a passionate fan of OU football and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball, but he also had a love for casinos which he frequented often.

He is survived by his children, daughter, Carrie Schmitz and her husband Patrick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son, Bill Wilson Jr. and his wife Kathy of Visalia, California, and daughter, Karen Amend and her fiancé Josh of Edmond, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife Alice Wilson, his parents, James and Dolly Wilson, and six of his siblings; James, Robert, Betty, Johnny, Leroy, and Floyd.

Carrie, Karen and Bill Jr. would like to thank Bill's neighbors Tom and Kayley for their support.

William lived a long and blessed life; he will be deeply missed and forever loved

Public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Okahoma. Family will be present.

Services to celebrate William's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2026, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, Oklahoma. A graveside service will take place following the service at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, Oklahoma.
